Getting discovered on nostr is next-to-impossible. If you didn’t grow a fan base outside of nostr and take it with you to nostr, you’re starting from scratch to try and have people see your posts and possibly retweet them.

For businesses, we vary on aggression of marketing also because of there being no other way to get discovery without random viral posts. If we can’t be reply guys and send lots of zaps, what else are we supposed to do to market our products on here?

Not a rhetorical question, genuinely curious. Yes I already know that happy customers shilling our products is great, I love that too, but some of us in addition to that also want to try marketing on our own.

There is a difference between a good hustle which I see you go through and respect, and outright spam. I ignored the spam the first time and didn’t even think anything of a dm offering sponsorship. My initial note about this was in regards to filou’s note which he claims he wasn’t even paid to say - so this was a mistake on my part and I apologized for assuming he didn’t disclaim sponsorship. But my follow up comment about aggressive marketing was in regards to the initial spam from Rizful. I found that distasteful and not a good faith hustle. I’m sure others will disagree and that’s fine. There are plenty of hard at work entrepreneurs here who sell products but do so in a respectful, organic manner and I respect that. Rizful is not one of those npubs and I wish they were. Could be a good service and whatnot I don’t even know what they offer since they came off so aggressive that I didn’t even want to check. Had they utilized humor or something more chill I’d probably look.

You probably also don’t see the full picture and why I’m saying this - first it was noted, then opening and closing channels then DMs. Do you do any of this? Probably not..

Appreciate the response, I knew your comment wasn’t targeted about me and who it was targeted at, but still had it resonate with me 🫡

We are all experimenting on here, and rizful is doing their thing. I was reached out to by them, and declined just because the optics weren’t there with me taking sponsorships. But, I still respect their hustle. I’m sure at your level with how ‘famous’ you are on nostr it can be annoying though.

Appreciate the helpful and civil dialogue on the matter

I’m not famous lol, most of my followers are probably bots or inactive accounts.

I too appreciate a good hustle and don’t even have anything against sponsorships. My concern was more about people not disclosing it, but i don’t know if that has even happened. All a big nothingburger.

Yep, a big part of the early nostr users are all gone now imo. I know followers mean nada here, but nostr is now old enough some kind of "followers active in the last 12 months" would be less misleading metric. It wouldn't rule out bots though.

Exactly. I’m for removing this metric entirely but active in last x months would be an improvement.

Followed by x number of people you follow is good.

> I’m not famous lol, most of my followers are probably bots or inactive accounts.

I think "old" is the word you're searching for. You're old 😉
