Most of us don’t realize how toxic our relationship was until after we are out of it for a while, even if we realize it was terrible. We often can’t see it, because it’s a subtle daily thing we endure. We also have had to minimize the things they do in order to survive being there. Give yourself grace and compassion as you realize this. You didn’t know and you didn’t see it until you did.
