Sometimes constraints increase focus. But sometimes you are writing, the app, running the app, and running unit tests.
I feel a lot freer with dual monitors lol
Do you know about alt+tab? It's a different command on Mac. It's a way to switch windows. Makes 1 monitor a lot more productive.
I don't have a mac
Your response really confused me, until I just figured out the disconnect.
Alt+Tab is a useful hotkey on Windows and Linux. The command is different on a Mac. Since you don't use a Mac, try Alt+Tab. It switches windows. Makes a single monitor more useful.
Hopefully I phrased it in a more clear way this time.
It doesn't fix losing most of your screen real estate. Still it's mind boggling that most normies barely touch the keyboard. Copy, paste, switch window, switch tab, ... aand many more make you just so much more efficient.
Still learning Linux it’s so different
Most keyboard shortcuts are the same between the two, that's transferable knowledge thankfully.
I always love the look of amazement when you show someone ctrl-c, ctrl-v when they didn't know it exists.
I think that is a good question to ask someone during the hiring process. If you don’t know that shortcut, you’re probably going to be a headache in a technological world. I’ve had coworkers that are still trying to memorize multiple passwords for their accounts.
I realize my error now that’s not on you lol yes I’m familiar with alt tab and do use it but I like being able to see multiple windows at the same time. I sometimes will have two windows per monitor and it’s useful to know that my browser is on the left and word document is on the right. With just one monitor, you’re cycling through everything on the same screen. Other times I’ll have a steam game open with nostr on the other window. It’s a first world problem for sure lol
