I am making traction on getting a large(ish) amount of old partially working miners (mostly S9s) that I am going to repair and send out to people for cost of shipping. Everyone will mine at home. I’ll make sure of it.

Amazing!

I volunteer as tribute

I have one sitting here that works fine but I don't use it because the fans are just too loud in my tiny apartment. I experimented with putting quieter fans on it but the chip temps started rising pretty fast.

Did you try underclocking it with the quiet fans? Running Braiins OS+ will let you crank that baby down to where it’s silent basically. You’ll obviously get a little less hash rate but it’s possible.

It's an S9K. Can't run Braiins on those can you?

Hm. Let me get back to you. I was wondering the same about the S9i a while back and forgot to finish testing.

If I could get Braiins running on it that would be great. I'd just run it as a low power lottery miner. That was my original plan, but when I went looking for instructions to flash Braiins on it I came across some posts that said it won't run on the K version S9.

I have a couple of old USB miners I can donate to the cause. Or maybe I should turn them into lottery miners? Power usage isn't a concern, I'm on 100% solar and wind.

Do you have any trusted resources on learning how to repair S9s?

Extremely interested

I like this. I’d gladly pay shipping.
