If you had $2 million in cash, would you use half to buy a 10-year U.S. Treasury paying $43,480 per year pre-tax, which is enough to live very well in most countries, and keep the other half in Bitcoin in cold storage?

No i would buy 20 bitcoin, use 10 as collateral to borrow $500,000 USD, then buy $450,000 more bitcoin and then still have the $50,000 USD for expenses. In 12 months time i would use the other 10 unencumbered to do the same thing, this time some of the borrowed fiat would pay the interest of the previous loan.
Interesting strategy. Wouldn't the idea that the bull market will last for another 4-6 months put you off from borrowing short-term?
the number is different for everyone - but as the world bitcoinises, $40k/yr is not going to buy a good life anywhere (gov subsidised energy, healthcare, etc will all go away), nor will it take $1mm/yr to live well in the west
I think $40K per year will still buy you a relatively decent life in most non-western countries, for at least the next 10 years. Of course, it depends on what kind of lifestyle you have, what you health looks like, if you have any dependants, etc.
I think the answer to this question depends a lot on one's age too. The older you are, the more you probably care about the monthly income than waiting for massive Bitcoin gains in 10-15 years.
