I've also had good luck with www.foxsox.com made in Iowa I believe and they have great merino wool socks. I wear them every day in summer and winter. I didn't have super sweaty feet so I can generally wear them a few days at a time but cotton socks is one day and done for me.
Good heavy socks are hard to come by.
I've got a drawer full of TBCO's cashmere and merino socks. They go well with room shoes and Chelseas in the winter months.
A good book and some chunky socks.
