Spacecraft, Landers and Rovers Could be Recycled for Parts on the Moon
When flying to the Moon, every kilogram matters, and recycling metal could be an effective way to build valuable new parts out of existing spacecraft. A new ESA project has demonstrated how new parts could be 3D printed out of recycled metal while minimizing the amount of lunar dust contaminating the process. This method turns metal into a powder printed layer by layer and then "sintered" or baked to give it more strength. We'll have to decide what's a historical artifact of spaceflight and what's grist for the space mill.
