To illustrate:

I think the modern Western "pretend that nobody notices or cares that beautiful women are beautiful" concept is as ridiculous as the Eastern "put a bag over her head and hide her in the house, so that she doesn't take over the world" concept.

The classical idea of modesty allowed for beautiful women wandering around relatively freely in public, without causing too much of a ruckus.

It was fair enough to work, but both extremes hate it.

Western societies somehow understood that beauty is an uncommon thing and is extremely elitarist, a property of very few. And instead of cheering beauty, the tendency has moved to a systematical redefinition of what beauty is based on the "inclusion philosophy".
