I have the same reaction to “tell us how you really feel” and “well, don’t sugar coat it” when I’m conveying my thoughts.
Why the fuck would I not tell you how I really feel? Why the fuck would I waste my fucking time sugar coating it?

worse is "I'm sorry to hear that" in response to just about anything (especially customer service). it's such a meaningless pat phrase and when parsed out means "I'd rather not hear about it".

personally, I find using the word cringe against woke mindless drones to be very entertaining 🤣
I think there are things that are cringe, but that's not one of them.
