Dial-up on a family member's computer, it was mesmerizing. Also IRC around the same time, being able to talk to people from around the world through your computer felt like fucking magic.

When I was young I thought that google accounts are the same as the windows accounts. That they are offline and every time I factory reset my tablet I have to make a new account. There are probably 10 accounts with my name. I have no idea what their passwords are.

Interesting interpretation, and again the explanation is less exciting; internet can both earn us a money and problems, depending how we use it.
