In general, it does work, although often you have to explain "no, not dollars, no, not bitcoin, choose lightning, don't worry, lightning is bitcoin"

in one supermarket they only had an onchain option in their chivo implementation

in another supermarket the QR was too small, we had to get out a keyboard to zoom in to make it work (am sure the locals waiting in the queue were impressed)

The other challenge is that waiters will sometimed outright lie and say they don't accept, or it doesn't work right now (but when you insist, it miraculously works)
