it's been like this in certain cities for many, many years

civilian kickbacks are for sure more effective at solving the problem vs passive acceptance / thinking the police would / could solve it

All the other rows add up to 100% (except 1900 which is 102, but that could be a rounding issue)

One wonders which minority suddenly exploded in the last 2 decades

What is the source of this info?

Telegram requires a phone number

In most cases that is kyc

Would be great to see your bot on Simplex or Nostr, for true permissionless lnp2p

You shall not buy or sell without it

No coincidence that a phone is held in the right hand, and AR glasses are by the forehead

Ok yes this makes a lot more sense, thanks for the followup

All the above points are of course moot if we simply use bitcoin directly as a medium of exchange

BTC backed loans are backed by btc

The loan is in fiat. So increasing btc price just improves your coverage ratio, doesn't affect your ability to repay.

The fact you can back a loan with btc improves liquidity, doesn't reduce it

2045 is a random date

fiat doesn't just "run out"

This is AI slop - it makes no sense at all - please read before copy pasting stuff 😎

Vexl might hash them internally but the fact is that most phone numbers are literally "live meatspace trackers" and there are reports every day of people being targeted thanks to location data

The responsible thing to do would be to completely remove the phone number dependency from their product, and not to normalise the sharing of such data within the community

Especially when phone numbers are KYC'd themselves in many jurisdictions. It's a dangerous (if client side) honeypot.

Bitcoin event organisers - if you do not set (and enforce) a NO CAMERA policy you are being irresponsible and unfair to your attendees

Getting a fiat card is not at all simple

And comes with huge privacy risks

Granted, if you are one of the privilege few who can have (and remain blind to the risks of having) a fiat card then yeah I guess bitcoin backed makes some kind of sense

But it's like arguing the difference between telegram, whatsapp, or signal

They all suck

Using Sparrow on Qubes (Fedora-41) to sign a PSBT with a Trezor - getting the error below after the hardware confirmation press.

Any tips / suggestions?

Actually discord forces many users to do SMS 2fa (doxing meatspace location), eg if they use vpn

And now they are introducing automated facial scanning software

Only a silly goose would use Discord
