Apparently there's drama in the Fediverse over whether or not instances should federate with Threads.

What even is the point of building a federated platform if all of the instances end up forming their own little silos anyway?
What’s the big deal? Federation just means you’ll be able to follow Threads users from Mastodon and vice-versa
Progressive Mastodon instance users get really huffy at the prospect of giving a platform to instances that grate against their community standrds or just simply their fragile sensibilities. Remember they are on Mastodon, because Silicon Valley isnt aligned *enough* with their deviant worldviews.

If they refederate with the weird degen side of mastodon I’m pretty sure meta will decide by themselves that they want no business with the fediverse.
