Nah, people in regions that lacked decent sources of protien never faired all that well. There is decent evidence of societies that lived well off of meat harvested from the oceans though.

They do have more options for sugary fruits though if you’re in the tropics. I’m sure they wouldn’t pass them by, that said, even in those situations they would definitely eat meat.
