"influencers" are people. People are driven by incentives.

Everyone has a price.

Maybe the question should be:

1. How many strikes is too much before *you* banish an influencer?

2. How long an exile must the influencer spend before *you* welcome them back into your world?

Agreed, so to my original question, should Bitcoin influencers be transparent about their promotional earnings?

To answer your questions:

1. Not strikes per se but as soon as I have a gut feeling that their promotion doesn't align with who they portray to be

2. This one is a tougher question because people can change, but I'd say I'd have to observe them for a couple months to make an informed decision

Transparency comes in many shades and is hard to verify.

Some promotional “earnings” are non monetary and therefore hard to quantify.

Finally, private dealings between two willing parties are private.

Who are we to impose our moral or ethical compass on fellow travelers?

I get what you are saying but there are too many variables and nuances, with no way of enforcing or verifying.

You make some great points on *why* it couldn't work but my point was more directed to the fact that (imho) "influencers" are just riding on Bitcoin's coattail without really adding value because, like you've said, incentives
