MASTODON ADMINS:

The latest Mastodon beta will completely delete your full text search index if you have full text search enabled.

Then they are forcing users to click a setting five clicks deep in order to “opt-in” to search - when there is already a setting for search engine opt-in.

They are not communicating this clearly to admins AT ALL. You are about to be HOUNDED with questions by users about why full text search is no longer working. https://oisaur.com/@renchap/110946188204729065

Apparently the batshit insane way Masto search works currently made me think it was literally broken so this is only an additive change.

Real full text search of public posts has not ever existed in Mastodon. Mastodon only lets you search posts you have liked or replied to. Which is absolutely insane because it defeats the entire goddamn purpose of search.
