Im just wondering how the ones who are not monetizing keep their apps alive without cashflow. Must be the passion alone.

I'm not trying to be unkind, but I guess my thought here is that as long as the nostr devs open soruce their apps, the community will then be free to jump in just like with linux or #FLOSS apps.

People will be more incentivized to invest in running relays, just like people run nodes on bitcoin.

If you make access a walled garden for only people who can pay, things get slippery quickly...

You are right to point out there is a lot of passion. This is required, and insufficient.

Open source does not mean free of charge.

Nostr is fortunate to have generous donors for the near term.

As foss users we can do our best to prompt devs to add easy subscription, purchase options, and reward monetarily whom we receive value from.

Forget about opensats and spiral.xyz.

We arent in this together. EveryOne need to steer his boat in the way he think is right. Does Nostr devs and "Freedom tech dev" let npubs go and move the way they want ?
