maybe I just have a low IQ, but I am finding it hard to get my head round the nip05 identifier thing. Any helpful replies will get a zap.

A nip05 address is just easier to remember than a npub string. Also, some relays use nip05 domains as spam hint or better non-spam hint. But actually, you don't need it.
