his parents are part of a Cthulhu cult, essentially making him "reborn" after every death, quickly growing back to his usual age without anyone in town remembering his previous death.

Cthulhu's primary characteristic is not actively trying to harm humans, but rather being completely indifferent to their existence, similar to how a human might not care about an ant colony.
