# *Dewclaw*

---

### **Pronunciaton:**

(DOO-klaw, DYOO-)

### **Meaning:**

noun: A small claw not reaching the ground, on the foot of some animals.

### **Etymology:**

Origin uncertain, perhaps from the fact that other claws touch the ground, but a dewclaw only brushes the dew on the grass. A related term is dewlap, a loose fold of skin hanging under the neck of an animal such as a cow.

Female bunnies have a dewlap.

Bunnies have to eat their own poop. I will never unknow this.

Lol. Why?

Their obligate copraphages. They poop a wet poop, then eat it, digest it again, and it takes a different course through their cut and comes out drier and harder....look it up. I would not _shit_ you.

sheep, cows and goats eat their own vomit too

Yes it's called caecal faeces or something like that.

they call the cat's thumb a dewclaw but i think that's stupid because i can see them using it to catch things like a human does many times

the ones on dogs, however, they are uncommon, similarly uncommon as 8 and 10 boobies

Fascinating. Never knew such a thing had a name.
