Guess it’s all about perspective. Ask the native Americans, enslaved blacks, Iranians who’s democracy was overthrown to install a dictator who bent the knee to American corporations, most Latin American countries over the last 100 years who have had the CIA (aka American corporate interests) decide their president, etc…
Ask them if America stands for freedom. Or ask if America (like most others) is simply another selfish empire that says what it needs to say to justify its often heinous actions.
No need to hero worship, and that includes countries
And no, that doesn’t mean tear it all down. Just that America is another empire in a long list of empires.
Full stop.
The empire does what is in the empire’s best interest.
America is not a static thing across time. It represented different things to different people at different points in time.
Perception shapes reality.
We should frame our history in a way that enables us to effectively move forward rather than shackle us to the past.
Hmm do you think the current American empire, represents freedom?
We export the consequences of our monetary printing to the world while having military bases in over one hundred countries and have been in a constant state of war against someone over something for decades…
I’d love to live in your fantasy world too, but it’s not current reality.
Most of us are here because we believe in bitcoin and that America unilaterally jumping off the gold standard in 1971 and moving from hard currency to fiat overlords was a terrible thing. We are still living with that same America in charge of the global empire.
