Driver ant queens mate more than once. And this may be because driver ant queens lay more eggs than almost any other kind of ant. The males show up and are escorted in by the workers OR if the workers don't like them they get eaten. No one knows what the base this decision on. But talk about high stakes!

That I don't know, from the reading and videos I've seen I don't think so? But, it's not exactly easy to observe what's happening inside of a driver ant nest... given... how they are.
