I'm spinning up a new #Bitcoin #lightning #node for a project that I've started. (I have been running Phoenix for the past year for self-custodial lightning)

I'm planning to open several channels of at least 2-4 million sats each.

What are some good nodes to open channels to? Specifically, nodes that are connected to nostr services? I'm thinking if I'm putting up liquidity anyway, it would be cool if it also helped other people in this space...

I'm looking at you too nostr:nprofile1qqstxwlea9ah3u6kjjszu6a7lrnhqkfh8eptp2z6v0e9558tlkkl2rgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszxnhwden5te0wfjkccte9ekkjmnfvf5hguewvdshx6p07xr4s5 , what's your node?

Open channels with people you ;

1) know personally (best)

2) can get ahold of (npub, twitter, telegram)

3) services you use (think popular wallets, services like bitcoincompany, stacker news, etc.)

Choosing peers just to help route like LOOP is a bad idea; as they prioritize channel profitability and will very quickly close the channel, because they're not making X# of sats off of you.

Minibits is great bless his node💜

I do not personally know anybody that has a node.

In the past I've used lightning Network + but it's been so long I was hoping to get some bites here before going that route.

And The goal is more to for reliability of payments as opposed to profitability of routing.

Why I'm going to have one channel to boltz, strike, and acinq (I use these services).

ACINQ would be best

Boltz is great, but they want very active channels. They've closed two of my channel opens to them within a week, because I wasn't doing enough daily sends through their channel

Strike will most likely not allow you to open a channel; you'd need approval from them. & even in that case you'd need good sized channel; ~10M or so

Best would be plebs here, and the services that you use.

As just an example, My list for you would be (each a min. 1M sats)

- stacker news

- the bitcoin company

- ACINQ

- wallet of satoshi

- coinOS

- other fellow plebs on Nostr

Sounds like a great plan. However for operational reasons I intentionally keep min channel size quite high (10m sats) as well as not focusing to maximize routing traffic (I keep fixed and relatively high routing fees).

Have been operating a routing node from 2018 and learnt lessons on how this stuff can go wrong. Need to focus my efforts on the wallet dev so keeping the node operations low and secure.

Would you have any recommendations?
