A Twitter bot has nothing to do with DVMs. Who even started making this comparison? A DVM is some computation you pay for, usually specialized or too demanding to run yourself on your local hardware. 🤦‍♂️

Do people compare bots to APIs? No they don’t. DVMs are like APIs on Nostr, but better than traditional ones.

The name is a big part of the problem. Too clever by half.

It’s a good name… but it’s a vending machine. Vending machines are dumb. They do one thing. You give them money they give you candy, or in this case, data.

Hard disagree. It may be good for devs, but it's gibberish to a normie.

But normies don’t use DVMs directly just like don’t use APIs?

I'm with you there, but I see them being "advertised" as a feature. If they're truly to be hidden/abstracted away, great. But how are they exposed in UIs?

Custom feeds, like in primal, is DVMs under the hood. There’s a web of trust one gaining momentum. Space is still early

Curious where you see them being advertised?

Totally feel you on that! 🚫💯 It’s like a secret code for devs, but for us normies? Just a whole lotta confusion. 🤷‍♂️💬 #KeepItSimple
