Daily workhorse : Mac laptop running Linux in VM

Linux not working? ?

Just code a new distro that works man, EZ-PZ.

Was funktioniert an Linux denn bitte nicht?

My Linux mint devices have served me well for 12 years!

Bought a new laptop last year. A yoga. Within a month all device drivers were available. Sound didn't work for a month but now works perfectly and the finger print reader never works or I don't care. Other than that it is good. I've been using Linux as a better computer since 1999.

Not only this but you can take your drive and put it in new hardware very easy or even clone for multiple machines. So easy,

I don't do serious audio so according to Adam Curry, that's were the weakness lies in high end sound drivers.

So you might be right in very niche specifics but as far as using a computer like it was meant by programming, and doing office work as well as media coding and deciding and if course Bitcoin. It's great!

i do serious audio unfortunately

I remember.

Don’t have any problems with Linux. Switched to Linux-only years ago. I am even gaming on it and everything just works fine. It even detects my fucking printer over Wi-Fi without dealing with any drivers.

What distro?

PopOS

Try Fedora, never had a issue with a stable release, unfortunately not the same with Ubuntu (but they still resolve the issues).

Zorin OS has been great... Tails for more sensitive stuff...

Sounds like hp printer.

It’s an Epson.

That was true until some years ago, not now.

What are you running?

I use ubuntu for everyday and tails for sensitive stuff. But im not an expert or anything, just a simple user!

Answer : at least 2-3 year old laptop

One of my computers has Windows, the other has PopOS. In time, I will ruin both. This is accurate.

I haven’t had too many issues with Ubuntu -I’d reccomend it.

I don't understand the complaints that Linux doesn't work. What does it not do?

It does everything. If you have the time to make it do what you want it to do...

There should be an LLM Linux configurator out there already? 🤔

Yes, it definitely does takes time. But at least it doesn't have ads or install/uninstall things without permission like the cancer windows has become.

It's all about the touch (pad) ... I think can't quit the macbook.

Easy fix. Search " Linux" before buying. You can also buy a laptop that explicitly supports Linux. Dell and Lenovo make them, as well as some smaller companies. You wouldn't buy a laptop without doing research, would you? Just make Linux support a part of that.

Yes, in a good organized prison aka Apple things may be working well. If you want freedom then you have to take responsibility yourself and don't complain.

Sad truth 🫣
