Back then, almost everyone I worked with was a "communist" in some fashion. We were dreamers back then. Now tech has been taken over by this current generation of tech bros and it's all about money and power. It's very different now.
For context, starting a tech career in Seattle in the dot-com boom at startups puts a certain focus on my lens for that era in tech. People working for IBM back then, probably have a different view. I don't know, I was always on the open source tip.
