You can do it! Having the awareness of the carb cravings is a huge step. They dont really go away - you just becone better at recognizing them.

sedj! this is so agreeable 😂🫂 thank you for the encouragement 🤙💜

how's your daughter btw

She confirmed this morning she was headed to Athens, was hoping for a confirmation she'd arrived safely before making a full update. Hopefully I'll have that in the next few hours.

(She's not the greatest about checking in, but I didn't train her that way, much rather she feel comfortable operating on her own than asking for a digital leash)

i'm so glad to hear this. all of it. great dadding 💜🤙

She's safely waking up to a busy day in Athens, all good!

Do you have any additional info on this? From my understanding, healthy carbs are necessary as a source of energy for functioning. Nothing wrong with a good ol’ plate of spaghetti with some grass fed ground beef and organic tomato sauce. Or is that false?

I cycle carbs usually. nothing bad about them at all! esp for women, they are beneficial for hormone production. I just feel better when I cycle and it feels ancestrally consistent to me. when I do keto, my body switches to fat as fuel. additionally, ketones are mega anti inflammatories. so much so that cases of schizophrenia have gone into complete remission in ketosis. that's an extreme case obvi but shows the healing power of ketones. as with everything tho, diet is bio-individual and i've found what works for me.

Interesting! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to look into this to learn more

I would start here - this site has lots of resources about low carb diets.

ty sedj I didnt have a good resource 🤙

Anytime! I've been through most of this site and a few others. I think Saifedean's blog on steaks led me here. After this, I've read about half of the mega-thread started by The Bear in 2006 about his years of meat-only consumption. I can hunt that link down too, but plenty of what is in there is pretty hotly contested still, and some may be flat out wrong. Not the best for onboarding.

Oh, here's Saifedean's article...

Thank you!

As someone who is extremely low carb (average less than 5g/day), I can say that they are not required for energy. My energy levels are far more consistent throughout the day than they were when consuming more carbs.

The carbs I do consume are mainly the lactose in dairy products, dextrose in cured meats, and the occasional treat - like a handful of raisins, or a bite or two of cheesecake. I actually try to consume any *treats* at night, so I don't inadvertently end up in an energy fluxuation pattern. Carbs in the morning are horrible.

agree with the consistent energy levels. I do 20-30g per day when i cut. i'm sharp, my thinking is super clear. overall, feel much better.

*the cravings and abstaining are the depressing part. eating them constantly makes it all better.
