The first European map of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec Empire's capital, was created in 1524. Alongside it, a mural of the city was painted by Diego Rivera in 1945.

The more you delve into this civilization, the more intriguing it becomes.

However, the unfortunate truth is that much of what's written about this culture comes from those who didn't fully comprehend it.

How so?

Because the people who wrote those things were not immersed in that culture, they lack a fundamental understanding of it. This also occurs when scientists attempt to analyze religious beliefs and cultures without having any understanding of the underlying beliefs.

The Aztec's hobby of human sacrifice was also kinda unfortunate IMO

I avoid judging ancient cultures using modern standards. But as you mentioned, it was unfortunate. They were likely doing what they believed was best within their worldview.
