Last weekend my good friend Manuel convinced me to travel to Bedford, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 for what was billed as the What Bitcoin Did Live Podcast Event. I was not sure what to expect. Peter McCormack was doing a live podcast, a new take on his world famous #bitcoin podcast, and part of the deal was tickets 🎟️ to go see his team’s, Real Bedford, last home game of the season. Additionally there was a Meetup or 2, all in this small town that I’ve never been to.

It turned out to be a fantastic event. Some real greats turned up, Jeff Booth all the way from Canada, the author of The Price of Tomorrow (a must read by the way), and Ben Arc, all the way from Wales 😂, the inventor of #LNBits and #Nostr. It was a real world demonstration of how companies can be run on a #bitcoin standard, Peter runs his his football club, the podcast and his newly acquired bar in Bedford on a bitcoin standard, although I think there’s some cash hedge to ensure all employees are always paid. The whole weekend felt more like a conference, very well organized and lots of content to focus on, a brilliant event.

One of the more amusing highlights was probably Danny and Ben getting electrocuted on stage as people were sending them #lightning ⚡️ payments.

Peter’s resilience and determination to push the boundaries for himself, his family, Bedford and bitcoin is inspiring. I hope this was the first of many events, I would love to go again.

I also bumped into George Russell in the lift at the Swan which was a nice little bonus for me as an F1 nut. 🙂
