Ordinals aren't Bitcoin and have no business in Bitcoin. They're spam, a bug that should have been patched immediately.
The virtuous nodes and Bitcoin loyalist will need to take greater responsibility for code supervision and development. After all, we are the ones that run and enforce the code and the protocol.
In the early days the nodes shared responsibility for code development and maintenance with Satoshi. That's how Bitcoin is designed. Nothing has changed.

Nodes will host ordinals just like they have hosted all the dumb fads that eventually moved offchain. It is ridiculous to assert that self-custody is impractical, but believe that you can convince literally the most retarded degenerates in crypto that they have to stay on-chain, when third parties will entice them offchain with cheaper products.
