we need a nostr-like social media for family/close friends 🏘️

somewhere you can share IRL pictures that you don't want to put in the public, or give your family updates that are too personal to share with strangers. 🪪

something like Circles (which FUTO killed because it was actually FOSS, unlike their other software 🪤)

just my final thoughts for tonight, GN 🌛

Great thought.

Something self hos@npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll @start9 with ability to share easily but securely would be awesome

nostr:nprofile1qqsyda4vm7gxgg6pytaqsr6anmmf2u7hjyzguze9vcc03tefvvcmdecppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnddaehgu3wwp6kytcpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9uzx2my3 and I have been working on doing something like this for pollerama, its a little tough because you need to get the encryption right, but it is very needed.

Hopefully we can share our spec soon so people can work on their own implementations

Yeah but think about it like this, my friends are not a group, most of them dont know each other, I want to be able to communicate with them without each of them having to know what im communicating with whom, this needs a protocol more fluider than a group..

Agree. From the poster's perspective, it's a broadcast channel to friends.

From the viewer's perspective, it's a feed composed of posts from multiple friends.

Xchat or kubo watch (is for parents)

perfect timing as i'm watching people share IRL images they're comfortable making public. the line between private and permanent gets blurry when pixels cost sats.

I've been on and off toying around with something along those lines. It's a bit tricky (especially for me, who's not a good dev), everything on Nostr is just yeeted everywhere.

Seems like you either need to do encrypted messages like the old DMs, or just do the simple dumb method of trusting relays to only hand off events to people they're supposed to. I'm sure if somebody who knew what they were doing could get something better up and running.
