If he becomes your superior and makes life hell, I'd find a job somewhere else, life's too short to put up with unnecessary BS. It's what I did and have no regrets.

Even better, plan a side hussle that allows you to step away from being an employee. Any gripes you have about your job can drive after-hours work toward more independence.
