if mint doesn't work, fedora's next.

Ubuntu dead?

on my linux journey. refurbishing old intel imac. pop_os didn't keep. ubunut, worked for a bit. then died. not sure why. reinstalled. drivers not working. found out new versions don't work with intel macs. recommended mint. n00b friendly. if that doesn't work, fedora next.

One tip for Intel Macs, install mbpfan, things will be much cooler. I've always had good luck with mxlinux on them too fwiw. Currently running it on an MBA 2014 and it works great.

MBA?

Macbook Air

Ah, Air. I have a MBP 2015 I might try this on

noted.

Going with an Ubuntu an an iMac from 2011 for over 4 month now. With the fan control a nice machine. And to add: super cheap used hardware!

Wish that was my case. Don't know what went wrong. Just not cooperating...

looks slick. maybe once i get the damn thing going.

Try Debian trixie, freshly baked.

What happened to pop?

Had it booted up. Did a driver update. Could NP longer boot. Had to reinstall. Twice.

Oof

Had something similar happen on two machines (I have pop on several). I had to boot from recovery mode to fix.

6 months later

6 days.

Pop and Mint are very much Ubuntu with a different haircut. What arenโ€™t you liking?
