i think to get normal people onto nostr there's gonna have to be a cleaner, easier to use frontend for key management.

i saw there was some talk in the space to have some sort of way to have an email./password sitting in front of the key pair to make it easier. that might require some centralisation, but with email being similar in that regard, there could also be multiple providors for the login. + there should always be a credible chioce to leave.

i've not been very active in looking at the development of nostr (mainly because i'm simply not interested in bitcoin this deeply and i just like the fact that it's unowned and anyone is completely free to do whatever with it). so i am likely missing more information for develpoment here.

any thoughts on this? how is growth looking?

Not sure if you know about nsec.app

still requires messing around with keys by the looks of it!

Just noticed use.nsec.app won't even load right now anyway

Maybe we need apps like Amber to get more streamlined UIs

yeah everything here could do with being more streamlined imo

Throwaway npubs are pretty easy to use right now at least, to try nostr and be able to reply to stuff before making a permanent profile

use a key is simple

Keeping a key safe is difficult,

there is no way that makes it easier maybe safer, maybe

many users use one or two clients, so they can keep the key,

because solutions add complexity

Why do we want normal people here?

so ppl can want to use it lol

But why would we want normal people that donโ€™t care about decentralization and censorship resistance to be here? Itโ€™s just not the kind of place they would value. And if they did come, they would demand their nostr client to act more like Facebook haha
