Lightning will crush the post settlement gap.
Now count how long it takes for them to reach final settlement
We don't care. We know the money will come eventually. High trust.
But credits cards make everybody poorer. Taking a percentage of every transaction compounds exponentially over time until the credit card companies have nearly all of the money.
IOU transactions can diverge to infinity : ♾️ / 1 s
Layer 1 ethereum and bitcoin can do 3 orders of magnitude less
In fact, we are “lucky” very few people do transactions on crypto currencies.
The system would otherwise be painfully unusable
