i'm assuming you're running bookworm. it is likely a compatibility or dependency issue. i will try to install with debian 12 after dinner. until then, please try to install using a fedora template and app vm instead

Will do. Thanks! I also found some docs that talk about installing qubes-tunnel, but it couldn’t find the package after installing qubes-repo-config.
Yes, using debian-12-xfce base template.
I’ll be afk for the next few hours too.
Thanks again!!
qubesos 4.2 switched from iptables to nftables and afaik qubes-tunnel isn't updated yet.

the setup i mentioned is much simpler and works on 4.2. lmk how you go with the Fedora template
Did the same thing with Fedora and got the same result. The sys-vpn appimage can connect fine to the vpn, but any other appimage (fedora or debian) with their netvm set to the sys-vpn appimage can’t connect to the internet.
This is the kb I followed:
can confirm protonvpn works on 4.2. i have not tried nord with 4.2
Are you using OpenVPN or installing the vendor stuff?
it depends on your needs. protonvpn gui works out of the box, you can switch servers on the fly with killswitch engaged. just set the qube(s) and app(s) to autostart on boot, create app launchers on your taskbar and you're good to go
Well, I couldn’t get Proton to even connect on either Debian or Fedora.
I can log in to the gui, but when I try to connect to any location, I get “Something went wrong. We’re sorry, an unexpected error occurred. Please try again.”
It’s late. Time for bed. I’ll try again tomorrow. Thanks again for all your help!!
