What you can get in exchange?

Two days ago I watched "The passion of Christ", I've never watched that movie before.

Apart from my impression of the movie which is less important, I'd like to share one reflection that came to my mind after the movie.

Jesus sacrificed his life because he was sent by his Father, therefore he wasn't from this "realm", he knew he will be sitting on the right side of the god eventually. He knew it was necessary, it'sas if he would say: "I love you so much I'd do anything for you. I can die for you"

He suffered here, and it seems to me he sacrificed so much that he - HERE ON EARTH, when he was alived - he didn't get anything, he got almost nothing for the sacrificing.

And when I thought about improving your life, battling addiction and of course fasting....

And sometimes when it can get really hard (being clean, fasting etc.)

there's one thing that is true for 80%:

In most cases you GET something for your sacrifice. And this is almost instant.

I imagine "realm" where people sacrifice for the sake of sacrificing...

There are always layers.

If you got some joy, laughter, real connections, respect for you are doing - you are a lucky one.

In most cases, here on Earth, for your sacrificing you can get a lot:

health benefits, more things done, in long term more respect, even possibility of true love, real connection, strong family bonds...

You get SOMETHING.

And to be honest - we are all like that, we all want something for our endeavours. BUT to sacrifice for others? That's next level. With fasting you are almost instantly rewarded AND your community can thrive because of better you.
