Back in my day, I had to tell my parents and siblings that I was using the Internet and to please not pickup the house phone to make a phone call.

I remember those days also.
And if you had call waiting you had to dial *70 before your ISPs number to turn it off 🥹
I’m the same age.
I’m using the 56k modem now daaaaad!
We eventually bought a second phone line for the Internet. Wild.
I was doing this in the 80s, connecting to BBSes with my 1200 baud C64 modem 😀
And don't get me started on call waiting and how it crushed my internet downloads in the 90s.
Clearly I'm younger than you because I would just scream at them when they picked up the phone.
I may have done this. 👀
Imagine playing Warcraft 2 against your buddy and 90 Mins in Mom picks up the phone……
I was all about Quake and Starcraft. I did some WC2, but not much online.
Bro. Duke Nuke’em
My bro and I signed up for a separate phone line which helped… but my mom gave the number to my grandma and although she should have gotten a busy tone like everyone else, the call still came through and we got disconnected.
Sucked when we were in the middle of an AoE match and grandma called. And we couldn’t say shit cause it wasn’t our own roof 🥲
I may have been one of the earliest internet addicts. Had a nerve numbing reaction to sitting for hours on end playing contract bridge over the internet and TheSierraNetwork. On my Intel386 processor and Windows 3.0.

I had a 9600 baud parallel port modem back in the day. The good old BBS's were the way to go. I still remember the ANSI Graphics on an old amber CRT.
I’m that old too. Had to book a slot when nobody wanted to use phone and usually dropped internet a lot
The struggle was real!
For old time sake🤙🏾
I remember that too 😂
Lol! Good times
old enough to understand this
Me too.
Anybody remember the party line?
I think I had to do the same for a bit. Back in uni, I had a 14.4 modem— and a 1gb hd. The Doom nerds were losing their minds on my awesome specs lol.
ah that screeching sound of getting connected to the world.. gives me goosebumps even today..
