The ideas behind SimpleX are great, but I wish it had a thing that ran on my computer and on my phone -- or they simplify their protocol such that it can be reimplemented. It's not great to depend on a single Haskell codebase, even if it's open-source.

Ideally we would plug their implementation right inside some of the Nostr apps, but currently this is far from being possible.

Honestly, I think all that is needed here is to start using https://github.com/ArcadeLabsInc/arcade and support nostr:npub1tlv67m7xvlyplzexuynmfpguvyet0sjffce3y8vu0suuyuwgzauqjk7fdm and team as they make improvements to the app leveraging Nostr protocol.

The biggest problem for Arcade right now is that once you install it - there isn't much to do - one active channel over there would be a great start.

But if Chat gpt requires your IP than does it defeat the anonymity of Nostr?

Maybe we need to think at the protocol level here as well. There are however some security bonuses to having closed systems, with users on the same clients.

I believe a desktop app is in the works, so then you'll have a thing that runs on your computer :)

(there is a CLI client at the moment but it's pretty barebones)

Yes, plugging into nostr would be amazing ! As I mentioned before: people want to have a one app that can handle a basic things like public / private(encrypted) communications.
