Bank apps SUCK. Everyone knows this. None can implement legit 2FA, they just rely on insecure SMS. Thanks to a self hosted #Gotify server and #SMSForwarder app on #GrapheneOS all those stupid SMS verification codes go straight to my PC where they are actually needed even if my phone is in a different location.
SMSForwarder can be found on #fdroid, #obtanium or legacy play store
Over here they don't use SMS anymore but use app built-in OTP.
Meaning that you MUST use their app.
Some bank apps work but some detect #GrapheneOS and do not.
So the banks are effectively selling Apple and Google devices. This whole thing is fucked up.
Some of those bank apps also refuse to work if you have installed apps with "too many permissions".
For example bitwarden from fdroid is a problem.
So the bank decides what apps are allowed on your phone..
Seriously f'd up. What if for some reason you don't have a mobile. Your screwed.

Yep. No phone then no online banking for you.
But even worse. No phone app = no school project info for your kids. (Email not possible)
No phone app = no access to your office building. (QR code only)
No phone app = no menu at the restaurant (QR code only and paid order on the phone too)
No phone app = no access to online govt "services". (Blocked on graphemeOS too)
The future would not be so bleak if not for the fact that NOBODY CARES.
