Not sure if it’s artificially induced scarcity because they culled a bunch of chickens with the bird flu scare or what. But the egg shortage has persisted for a few months and comes and goes more than the tide ebbs and flows.

Chicken lay rates are a fraction of what they normally are during winter months. In Austrian economics this is completely normal market behavior honestly. Expensive eggs when chickens don't lay as many eggs and what "should" be less expensive eggs when lay rates kick up in spring.

Steady, consistent egg prices all year long is actually fiat socialist thinking. 🤷
