20k steps on leg day is absolute torture

Thus might sound nuts but try dumping the steps. Few hours after weights, get on a bike for minimum 10 minutes. Weirdly, I find it helps.

Steps have been huge for me. Love 20k per day, it's just rough some of the time.

20k is probably over 9 miles right?
