Vintage Mid Century Modern furniture seems hugely overpriced compared to older antiques of much higher quality. First piece selling for $3,000, second for $575 (no typo)

I guess… that means, more for us 🤷‍♂️☺️

Whoa.

honestly, they're both horrible 😅

I've seen a lot of these older antiques been chopped for firewood in my part of the world.

Just by the pictures, the first one is much more functional, but you can't tell anything about the "quality" (i.e., the build and materials) of either piece. I lean towards thinking that the first one is also superior there, because it probably has modern steel supports and parts, vs mere wood and, at most, rust-prone older steel or even worse, brass.

Both still overpriced:). Who needs furniture when there is BTC to stack?

I want that 575$ desk. Where can i buy it?

First one is minimalism. Second is crafty.

I guess most people want the first one because it doesn’t look old but in fact it’s a vintage.

2nd one is beautiful. Dusting it might be a chore.

1st one, meh.

The were plenty of mid century pieces that were well made, but I get the point.

I recently sold a mid century china hutch made of cherry that made more than I would have been willing to pay for it.

The first looks a lot nicer than the second, to many people.

Value is subjective, indeed

I’m still amazed at how many smart people still insist on “value” being objective. Blows my mind.

Where can I buy the second
