Just by the pictures, the first one is much more functional, but you can't tell anything about the "quality" (i.e., the build and materials) of either piece. I lean towards thinking that the first one is also superior there, because it probably has modern steel supports and parts, vs mere wood and, at most, rust-prone older steel or even worse, brass.
