What’s the argument RE safety?
Discussion
The hospital proponents quite rightly point to the benefits of being there to give birth when complications arise
But for most low risk pregnancies, not being in hospital can be far better to avoid the cascade of interventions
No drugs > No tools > No c-section
Means faster recovery for the mother, and a naturally born baby, which additional benefits for the baby
If you have appropriate support then yes I get that.
My Wife’s given birth 3 times in hospital with good result. In saying that it’s been in a country hospital which helps a lot.
Great! Well done to you and your wife. Ultimately it’s all about the more babies, however you get it to work
I’m doing my best to repopulate 😂
Would love 4 but I think it’s going to be a stretch
90% of c-sections were never necessary.
C-sections alter the development of microbiome of baby. This continues to affects health of baby long term into adulthood, prone to health issues like asthma and obesity amongst others. Explains why obesity is on the rise.
Giving birth in the hospital birth is not safe at all.
Thats a fact.
100 + years ago, the reason why higher infant mortality was because of poor sanitation / open sewers. We dont have this problem any more.
Hospital births are not necssary and are infact dangerous.
Agree most C sections are not necessary. Coming through the birth canal is extremely beneficial for the baby as you said.
100 years ago there were many experienced women to assist with a “home birth”. The same isn’t easily available now.
I’ll completely disagree with your last comment.
30-40% of all births in most westerns countries are by c-section. And they are rising fast.
If you have a hospital birth you have a 30-40% chance of a c-secrion. 90% of c-sections not necssary.
I classify this as dangerous. Hence why giving birth in the hospital is dangerous.
You could use a different logic to justify why hospital births are safe. But I dont believe this would stand its ground for most normal people.
Rare exceptions where it might be advantagous to have a hospital birth doesnt make it safe for most people. Because unfortunately some sort of unnecessary treatment will be forced on you when you are there. And many of these treatments are dangerous (similar to a c-section). When you are a patient you are vulnerable and most people are pressurised to follow what the doctor says. Its "forced" all buttered up with patient consent.
As a general rule if I ever visit the hospital, I tread cautiously, and get out of there as fast as possible. You need to keep you guard up, when things seem innocent and harmless. This is the time to be extra vigilent.
The number of people that die because they are in hospital, if these numbers actually came out and became transparent, you would have a different view and be talking very differently.
My wife’s given birth to 3 children in a hospital. No pressure, no problems. I’m saying that, it is a country town hospital. I have heard plenty of horror stories from big city hospitals.
