I've always thought that what Ukraine needs now is a break. In order to regroup, rearm itself and train the next generation for the next war with Russia. Putin can't afford for that to happen for several reasons. One of them is that Russia's weapons wouldn't get any significantly better during a break, whilst Ukraine's stockpile would be much more improved. (I may be wrong about my theory.)

I believe exact opposite 🤷🏼♀️ maybe I agree about weapon development but Russia can only be exhausted by continuous counter-attack.
Also, Ukraine being the defender taking a break implies that the battle will inevitably be restarted. I believe that Russia has to be brought to the point where restarting the attack (or continuing the imperial fantasy) is literally impossible
French gov and UK gov thought exactly like that about Germany after WWI and it lead to WWII very quickly. This is a never ending scheme, of conquest, revenge, ego and power.
We should be focusing on stoping the killings ASAP and defund our respective mafias (the State), rather than finding a winners. You can't win anything if you are dead.

The French and UK governments barely defeated Germany. The economic restrictions on Germany were clearly insufficient, and as Germany started rearming nothing was done even though Germany was clearly violating the conditions imposed on it.
Meanwhile, after WW2, when Germany was actually crushed with millions more dead and their economy was truly collapsed, peace finally was achieved.
The lesson here is to actually defeat Russia, thoroughly, without holding back.

The fact is the German economy was not crushed, and that's precisely how WW2 could happen. After WW2 we forced Germany to pay enormous reparations and tightly controlled their ability to fight war, and absolutely humiliated the population with forced labor, starvation, and guilt... and this time peace prevailed.
Humiliation certainly does work. And the basic physics of economics works too.
