I feel like people keep trying to send me to these other websites, which is pretty confusing, if I click on that does it know my ID here? Do I need to set up a whole other identification? I am using damus on an iPhone.
You can find people on Damus by npub. By name is not that reliable, in my experience. Easiest way is to find person on that site, copy npub, paste in search on Damus!
You could also install a NIP-07 plugin, but it’s not as easy to use as it should be yet. 🐶🐾🫡
I think web clients like astral.ninja are gonna be good at that, but apps on like your phone can only search notes you've downloaded. So if someone never showed up on your feed before, your app doesn't know about them.
What do you mean notes that I’ve downloaded? I make a post, it’s called a note. What’s the downloaded consideration? Like if I’m flipping through the universe all peoples feed type thing, if I see it there then that’s a downloaded note? Thanks for the patience answering the questions

Legacy social media apps aren't interoperable. You need different accounts for each of them. Nostr social media apps are all interoperable. One account for all applications. No need to share any personal data with any of them.
