I wonder how nostr is going to comply with the online safety act 🤨

Will relays simply shut down? Who is going to risk penalties?

Who's gonna run the relays? 😅

Do you? / will you in that environment?

Luckily, I haven't been affected yet. But I'm not very familiar with that law. Do you have any resources for reading, my friend?

Fuck. The. System.

Do you run a relay?

I don't have the technical expertise, in order to do that, sadly.

Take it to the head office

I’m assuming this affects the US? How about running relays in other countries?

UK. I don’t know, I assume it affects any relay with users in UK

But it’s outside their jurisdiction. I doubt they would go as far as asking foreign countries to shut down a nostr relay

They don’t need to. If you have UK users you’d have to comply. Or not accept UK users.

Sorry I don’t want to drag this out too long 😅 but again, it’s not their jurisdiction. The UK can’t just enforce their laws in other countries. I guess the solution is VPN

Hate to burst the bubble, but western countries enforce their "laws" in other juridictions commonly these days. USA is worst but not the only offender.

You learn something new every day 😁

Yet again I am mentioning that we need p2p 🤷‍♂️

How about relaying over tor?

Maybe the apps will finally have to allow ws:// relay addresses so we can run our own relays easily on TOR. Can’t believe that’s not more ubiquitous already.
