It was a conscious decision to do so. The reason is that many would upload a 20-30MB gifs and most clients will fail to load them. For the best quality I highly suggest using MP4 and only minimal usage of gifs. I hope that makes sense 🐶🐾🫡

nostr.build Pro account heavily compresses gifs.
A 1419 x 1194 4.6 MB file became 360 x 303 1.13 MB after upload with a significant reduction in quality (this result was the same as free tier in my test).
Any plans to not compress Pro account gifs the same way audio and video are not compressed?
Photos can usually retain a similar quality in appearance when compressed, but gifs can really suffer in quality as a result of this kind of heavy compression.
