That is a pro consumer policy. I as a steam user want to know my game isn't cheaper anywhere else. Otherwise epic or other companies will charge 30 % more on steam.
Steam is driving linux adoption like crazy. Which is great for everyone's freedom.

Really though stores have to do that or every publisher will charge more on any platform that isn't theirs.
Even if it's not a good policy for the developer it is a good policy for the consumer.
Which is me in this case.
